I find this hard to believe. This is exactly what happened with the Good Times virus and everyone freaked out. Files sent via the 'net are not executable, being that they are almost always converted to text when they are sent(ie binhex, uuencode, etc.). The attached file would first have to be saved to your harddrive, then converted to binary and then executed. And have a nice day ;)

Why has there been no CERT advisory on this then? I'd say you've been coned. Yes, it infects twits who then feel the need to post completely inappropriate e-mails to mailing lists that are for discussion of something completely different. One of the great things about IDM is the signal-to-noise ratio, *and* the fact that people know how to follow Netiquette - they don't post inappropriate things (usually), they know how to quote properly, they don't include whole posts after what their response is, there aren't individuals posting 10 messages a day with nothing more than a complete quote of a message and a one-liner (or one word!) response, etc. This kind of behavior is starting to destroy other mailing lists I'm on (socal-raves, for example). I don't want to see it start here.
